Public FIRE SAFETY Education
The Sandersville Fire Department provides numerous programs intended to promote and teach fire safety to all ages. Firefighters are trained to provide a large range of programs from teaching kindergarteners how to "Stop, Drop and Roll" to assisting senior citizens how to recognize and eliminate hazards in their homes.
Under the direction of State Certified Fire Instructor Ben Avant, the department offers the following programs:
- Fire safety presentations for local businesses, schools, clubs, and various groups.
- Visits to all first grade classes of all schools to promote fire safety for children.
- Attends Career Days at the Schools to promote careers as Firefighters
- Sets up fire safety education tent at the annual Kaolin Festival
- Attends Health Fairs at the Hospital
- Acts out a crash scene for the annual Teen Maze program at the Boys and Girls Club
