Sandersville Electric, a member of MEAG Power, provides low cost and dependable electric service to residents, businesses and industry in Sandersville. We are committed to keeping the electricity flowing to homes and businesses 24/7/365. You'll see our crews working in all weather to make sure that the power is on or restored as quickly as possible.

Sandersville Electric does not generate its own electricity, purchasing its power from various generating facilities through contracts.  As such, Sandersville Electric is a member of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG Power) and receives electricity from Georgia Power through the Georgia Integrated Transmission System. Sandersville Electric is also a member of Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG), a co-op of Georgia cities with similar power needs and issues. ECG provides engineering services, testing of service meters and other highly technical specialized services involving system efficiency. Being a member of MEAG and ECG helps Sandersville Electric keep and maintain low rates through greater purchasing and legislative leverage.

Created by the Georgia General Assembly in 1975, The Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG Power) provides reliable, competitive wholesale electricity to its 49 member communities, including Sandersville, who own their local distribution systems. MEAG Power also monitors and advocates on energy issues at the state and federal levels on behalf of its customers.

The Authority provides electric power through its co-ownership of two nuclear and two coal-fired generating plants and sole ownership of a natural gas combined cycle facility. MEAG Power is also a co-owner of the new nuclear Plant Vogtle Units 3 and 4, estimated to come on line in 2020. It is among the top 15 of 2000 public power supply companies in terms of annual megawatt-hour sales.

MEAG Power  is a nonprofit, statewide generation and transmission organization recognized as one of the premier joint action agencies in the country, with an enviable diversified fuel portfolio and more than half of the energy mix coming from emissions-free generation resources. MEAG Power has more than $9 billion in assets, delivered 10.6 million megawatt-hours of energy and owns more than 1,300 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and nearly 200 substations.

Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) is a non-profit organization serving 52 public power members in Georgia. ECG provides strategic and technical services to its members to maximize the performance of their utilities and, to a greater extent, create successful communities with economic prosperity and opportunity.
