City Administration

The City Administrator carries out the policies and implements the goals established by the City Council in providing services to the residents of the City of Sandersville in the most effective and economical manner.

Judy McCorkle currently leads the City of Sandersville as City Administrator. Judy has nearly 30 years of experience working in local government. Her knowledge and experience make her a great asset to the elected officials, employees, and residents of Sandersville.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration from Georgia Southern University. She started her career in city government as an administrative assistant for the city of Statesboro in 1992. During her career in Statesboro she served as city clerk/treasurer and director of finance and administration. She joined the administrative department of the City of Sandersville in July 2009 as interim city administrator and was appointed city administrator in October of 2009.

She was honored as 2004 Finance Officer of the Year by the Georgia Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers Association (GMCFOA) and is a current member and past president of that organization. She is a member of the Georgia City and County Managers Association, a past member of the board of directors of the Georgia Municipal Association and a member of Nevils United Methodist Church.

Judy is married to Gary McCorkle and they have two children, Matthew and Jennifer. She enjoys her family and church activities and is an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.

The Administration Department is responsible for the following:

  • Proper and efficient administration of all operations of the City except as otherwise provided by law
  • Facilitation of city administration and functions through coordination of the various city departments
  • Ensuring that the staff provides quality service and continuous improvement in processes
  • Supervisory responsibility over department directors
  • Coordination and communication with elected officials
  • Coordination with state and federal elected officials
  • Ensuring that the ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City Council and laws of the state, subject to enforcement by the City Administrator, are faithfully executed and enforced
  • Annual preparation of a proposed balanced operating budget, a capital budget and a capital improvements program for the City Council
  • Promoting positive human relations
  • Coordination of a community relations and public affairs program
  • Responding to citizen questions and concerns

City Clerk

Kandice Hartley is currently the City Clerk for the City of Sandersville. Mrs. Hartley started with the City as a Customer Service Representative in 2009. She was appointed to the Assistant City Clerk position by the City Council in 2010. In 2019, she was appointed to her current position as city clerk.

The Assistant City Clerk is Gloria Evans, who joined the City in 2019.

FREE COVID TESTING INFORMATION

Free COVID-19 testing is offered twice weekly in Sandersville -- Monday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until noon. For screening for testing through the North Central Health District, you must contact the COVID-19 testing number 844-987-0099 to get a referral for testing. The health district also offers testing on different days in each county in the district (see schedule here).
